Milk Cards

MILK CARDS

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017
As of next week, the Jack Mack Milk Committee will be introducing Milk Cards!

With each new purchase of 10 or 20 milk credits, students will receive card. (Note: Families can purchase as many cards at a time as they wish.)

Students will be responsible for keeping these. The milk cards should stay in their lunch kits so they do not get lost AND so parents can see when a new card needs to be purchased.

More information: Purchase and distribution of milk will remain the same. Students will bring their milk card to the Milk Volunteer to receive milk each day. Lost cards will not be replaced.

Students will receive their milk card(s) on with their current milk credits and for any new purchases made in the meantime. For any purchases made after Monday, March 27th, milk cards will be distributed every Monday.

We look forward to this new system and hope it benefits everyone!

Questions can be forwarded to Mrs. Riou at jaime.riou@rbe.sk.ca .

Sincerely,
Jack Mack Milk Committee

Refunds for Mission Ridge Ski/Snowboarding Trip

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Due to the cancellation of the Mission Ridge ski/board trip, any money that was paid on-line has been refunded. The refunds occurred on Monday, March 27, 2017.  It now has to go through the “Kev” accounting system to be processed, which we expect should be done by early this week.  The refund would be applied to the credit card/my Wallet, or whatever method in which the trip was initially paid for.  For any students that paid cash, the homeroom teacher would be in charge of refunding the student.

Grade 8 Yearbook

Grade 8 Yearbook

Thank you for your feedback in February.  We had lots of families interested in a Grade 8 yearbook and are now ready for each student to create their “about me” page.

To make it easy for each student to create their personal page, we have created a template in Mixbook, which we will share with each family early next week.

If you did not return your February survey answer via email, please send a quick email within the next few days to jmac.yearbook@gmail.com - so that we have your email address and can share the template with you.  Please include your student’s name in the email.

Once you receive the template (which will be a Mixbook invitation to collaborate on a project), you will need to create a Mixbook account (if you do not already have one), and will be able to upload your student’s photos, then drag and drop them into the template.  Detailed instructions will be provided, but the process is quite simple and we really hope that each student will take the time to create their page so that the finished book includes our entire grade 8 graduating class.

We plan to also include pages highlighting our student’s experiences during their years at Jack Mackenzie, but need your assistance for this.  If you have any good photos from Jack Mac field trips, Christmas concerts, music concerts, sports practices/games, etc., please email the photos to jmac.yearbook@gmail.com & include the grade/class taken. We hope to have enough photos to include pages of photos & memories from each of the past grades (K – Gr 7) as well as this grade 8 year in the yearbook.  We would also greatly appreciate any photos of Mr. Mackenzie and of the Jack Mac staff over the years.

We ask that these two items be completed by April 30th.  If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email jmac.yearbook@gmail.com or ask one of the student classroom representatives.

Thank you for your assistance!

Celebration of Learning - Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017

March 13, 2017

Celebration of Learning – Student-led Conference

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Conference time is quickly approaching. This an important part of our school’s evaluation and reporting process. We invite you to attend a Celebration of Learning, which is a student-led conference that will take place on March 22, 2017 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.

The goal of Celebration of Learning is to offer concrete and meaningful examples of your child’s progress. This type of conference provides students with an opportunity to assume responsibility for informing their parents of how they are doing while engaging them in communicating the learning process. Your child will lead you through a variety of activities that have been designed to help him/her demonstrate their progress in various subject areas.

It is not necessary to have a set schedule for this type of conference, as several students can go through the activities at the same time.  Teachers will be present in the classroom to answer any questions that you may have.

Celebration of Learning typically takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.  Should your child’s teacher feel that it is necessary to have a more in-depth meeting, they will contact you.  The morning of Friday, March 24, 2017 has been set aside for these meetings.  As always, if you would like to meet with your child’s teacher feel free to contact the school at any time.

We hope you will be able to join us for this opportunity to celebrate your child’s growth and development!

Sincerely,

Russ Clarke
Principal
