OurSCHOOL-Tell Them From Me Survey 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian,

As part of our focus on school effectiveness, Jack MacKenzie will be participating in an online school survey for students – OurSCHOOL.

OurSCHOOL is an online survey that allows students to give their feedback and share their voices on their school environment, experiences at school, and any school improvement programs.  During Monday, October 17^th-Friday October 21^st, all students will be given the opportunity and time to participate in this survey during regular school hours. They are encouraged to complete the survey, but may choose not to as it is completely voluntary. Students who agree to complete the survey will be given a random username and password to access and complete the survey. Students’ names cannot be linked to their responses which allows it to be completely anonymous. Results will show all student scores combined together – it is not possible to single out individual students in the results.

The student survey will be completed electronically and will require approximately 35-40 minutes to complete. The student survey Measures include such topics as emotional and social well-being, physical health, and behaviours and attitudes linked to student success. The survey also allows students to give their thoughts and feedback in open-ended question responses.

OurSCHOOL was created by The Learning Bar, based on the work by Dr. J. Douglas Willms. Dr. Willms is widely known nationally and internationally for his work on educational monitoring systems, including the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. Since 2004, OurSCHOOL has quickly grown to become Canada’s largest national school survey.

QSP Fundraiser Has Kicked Off with a Blast of Prizes!! Sell!! Sell!! Sell!! Buy!! Buy!! Buy!!

United Way Fundraiser

Ms. Gilroy, Miss Iorga and Miss Baker’s grade two classes have started making jewellery to sell to raise money for the United Way.  Students have been putting together sparkle ball earrings and necklaces that they will be selling for $25.00 at the Back to School BBQ and Open House.

There will also be a table set up with tickets for sale to a Comedy Night on Nov. 19^th  featuring comedian, Kelly Taylor.  Tickets are $20.00 each.  Proceeds from this event will help fund Summer Success Literacy Camps for inner city youth who are one to two years behind in their literacy scores.  Please help support this great cause and buy your tickets early!

Hello, my name is Kelley Reoch, and this is my ninth year as a grade 7/8 teacher at Jack MacKenzie. I am excited to be having another fun and successful year at Jack MacKenzie both as a teacher and Vice-Principal this year. A bit about myself: I have been teaching in the Regina Public School System since 1991. My primary focus as a teacher has been senior students, although I have experience with primary as well.  My husband, Shane, and I have four children.  Haley is at the U of R and on the Rider Cheer team.  Ethan is an Engineering student and musician. Levi is also in school and working towards a pro skateboard career. Zoe, our dancer, is starting grade nine at Campbell Collegiate. Hi, my name is Taylor Hollinger, and this is my sixth year at Jack Mackenzie.  This year I will be teaching grade 7/8 Social Studies and K-5 Physical Education.  I am very excited to have another successful year at the school.  I have been teaching in Regina Public Schools for 10 years; 4 years in the High Schools and the last 6 in elementary.  Last summer I got married to my wife Nicole and this summer we purchased a home in the East.  Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns, taylor.hollinger@rbe.sk.ca

* Regina Public Library, library programs, TD Summer reading program

* Online resources: Tumblebooks or Overdrive (free on the Regina Public Library website) , anyone with a RAZ KIDS account

* Garage sale books

* Have a reading challenge with friends or neighbours

* Pack a book in your backpack, sportsbag or car

* Read different types of text (magazines, newspapers, e-books, novels, recipes, informational books etc.)
